I had a quick meeting with Alex, my press attache at the Forum guest house. We needed to discuss many things, but you meet people there and end up chatting, which is quite fun, then time was up! Since we are done with the premiere my interest start shifting to other films. Ichiyama-san suggested “Katlin Varga” (Rumanian/Hungarian, in Competition) and we saw it at the Freidrichplast. The story was conventional and straightforward, but the visuals and sound design were great. It would win some prizes, I thought. Eating Italian then I moved to Arsenal cinema to have the 3rd screening. The cinematheque has a very charming atmosphere for cinephilies as Film Forum, NY or Bungeiza, Tokyo. Q&A after the screening was quite intense and I enjoyed it very much. Then me, Alex, and his new girl friend went out for the biggest night event in Berlinale, Forum Party in a huge colosseum-like theater. I happened to meet Raymond Bellour and ended up talking for an hour and half. we talked Eric, Grin, Costa, then John Ford at the end. You can have quite exciting talk on cinema in the club music, that’s an unique charm of Berlinale!
午前中プレス担当のアレックスとミーティング。プレミアも終わったことだし、映画を貪り見ようとコンペ、パノラマなど他部門もチェック。市山さん推薦の「Katlin Varga 」（Rumanian Hungarian、コンペ）を見ることに。話はコンベンショナルだが、映像とサウンドデザインが突出しており、これは何か賞をもらうのではないかと予感。ホテルの近くでイタリアンを食べ、3回目の上映ArsenalでＱ＆Ａ。小さい劇場だが固定客が常にいそうな、Film Forum または文芸座的なシネマテーク感を出しており、質疑応答というよりも観客のみなさんとの対話という感じで深く充実。その後は、フォーラム部門の陰のメインイベント、フォーラムパーティーに繰り出す。3階建てのシアター全てを借り切り、６，７ほどの部屋それぞれがまったく違う演出のダンスフロアになっている。自分は踊るでもなく、顔見知りのfilmmakerと談笑していると、昨晩であったTraficのRamond Bullor 氏が現れ、1時間半も話し込んでしまった。エリセ、グリン、コスタの話しから始まり、最後にはフォードへ。こんなにディープな対話がクラブミュージックの中で出来てしまうベルリンは素晴らしい！
